“Echoes” è una applicazione il cui scopo è quello di riportare l’attenzione sul senso dell’udito, sui suoni nascosti e dimenticati che ci circondano costantemente, e che risvegliano in noi emozioni, ricordi, aneddoti, anche legati allo spazio in cui i suoni stessi vengono percepiti. L’app offre la possibilità di registrare un suono, un ricordo, un racconto, a cui l’utente può aggiungere una descrizione, degli hashtag, e associarvi una emozione. L’app geolocalizza la registrazione e la colloca su una mappa. Un altro utente che si trova nel range (1,8 km) del suono può ascoltarne un’anteprima e raggiungere, mediante una bussola, il luogo esatto in cui è stata effettuata la registrazione, in modo da ascoltare il suono completo nel luogo in cui è stato percepito. Si crea dunque una sorta di mappa di calore sonora-emotiva dei luoghi, organizzate per categorie di suoni. Il progetto è stato sviluppato come tesi finale del Master Relational Design, la parte teorica della tesi è stata curata anche da Ilenia Treccarichi e Michela Sapienza Pennisi.

Echoes is an application that aims to rediscover all the hidden and forgotten sounds spread across the city, that awaken emotions, memories, anecdotes, also linked to the space in which the same sounds are perceived. The app allow to record a sound, a memory or a story. The user can add hastags, a caption, and can associate an emotion. Then the app geolocate the record and places it on a map. Another user who is in the range (1.8 km) can listen to that sound and reach, through a compass, the exact place where the recording was made, in order to hear the full sound in the place where it was felt. It therefore creates a kind of sound-emotional heat map of places, organized by categories of sounds. The project was developed as a final thesis of Master Relational Design, the theoretical part of the thesis was also curated by Ilenia Treccarichi and Michela Sapienza Pennisi.
